UNIT 1: Catering skills related to food preparation and service
Controlled Task —- 45 Hours in Total
Two practical tasks– selected from a bank of six WJEC set tasks. Internally assessed using WJEC set criteria and externally moderated.
60% in total – 20% in year 10 and 40% in year 11.
UNIT 2: Catering, food and the customer
One Written Exam Paper – 1 ¼ hours
The paper will contain:- short-answer, structured and free response questions drawn from the catering content.
This examination will be a traditional written paper and is worth 40% of the GCSE.
In this GCSE you should:-

- Be prepared to bring ingredients for practical lessons and practical assessed sessions
- Be committed to an amount of written work to support your practical work in order to be assessed
- Be prepared to come in some lunchtimes and after school to finish practical and written tasks
